Supreme Court Justice Young-ran Kim gave a lecture about leadership at the Creative Learning Center on November 18th. The title of her lecture was "The Self-Determined Life and Women in Law".
Justice Kim said, "When I went to Seoul National University Law School, there were only 4 female students out of 130. When I started my career as a judge, men didn't want to work with me." She explained that the entire idea of a female lawyer made people uncomfortable at that time. She said that grew to understand the importance of women's professional issues through these experiences.
Furthermore, she explained that she came to believe that defending the weak was her duty. She asked students to pay attention, saying , "We have many minorites in this society who don't get the rights they should."
