A Korean researcher who used to work for Dr. Hwang Woo-suk has said he
personally witnessed eight completed stem cell lines produced and
nurtured by the cloning expert. Kim Seon-jong, who was dispatched to
the University of Pittsburgh, told reporters that he is 100 percent
convinced of the existence of the stem cells. He also told Korea's
state-run KBS television in the U.S. that the stem cells were
cultivated through normal procedures and were checked every morning by
six members of Dr. Hwang's team. Kim's remarks come to Hwang's defense amid accusations by the stem
cell expert's former partner, Roh Sung-il, that the experiment and
results were fabricated. In a press conference on Friday, Hwang
insisted he is able to provide authentic evidence of his work and that
the process can be repeated. Roh, in a separate news conference, once
again criticized Hwang for being dishonest. Kim Seon-jong, a former researcher at Roh's hospital, said he
is willing to undergo a criminal investigation. However, he was unable
to verify Hwang's claims embryonic stem cell lines were mixed up at the
hospital. Arirang News
